Post 6: Postgraduate studies

I’m going to be very honest with this; I don’t want to do a Master. The reason is because I haven’t found something interesting for doing in the future. It can be sad, but it’s not on my priorities.
However, if I would something, I’d do the Master of Documentary Cinema from the Universidad de Chile at the Instituto de las Comunicaciones e Imagen, which is where I study.
This Master has all the subjects that I would like to do about documentaries. Like Audiovisual Montage, which is basically everything about production of a movie; Cartography of the Documentary Representation, which is analysis and understanding of the evolution and transformation of documentary representation systems; and, Writing With a Picture, which is about the technical management of the camera and the sense of documentary photography.
Like I said, the Master can be done here in the same school I go, but if I have lucky, maybe I would like to do it on abroad. Because, I would have more opportunities out side of Chile. As Europe, I know in Paris the career of a documentalist is better developed there. Or maybe, I would like to go New York, which it’s where is NYU, the New York University. There, is a very good school of cinema and documentaries.
And here is the thing: if I do this Master, I would have to quit my job maybe, because I’d have to do this mayor with a full-time.

  2. Even you don't want to do a master, it sounds like you know very clearly what postgraduate studies you are going to do

  3. I don't think that is sad not taking a postgraduate course. If that's your option and that's what makes you happy, it's a good and acceptable thing.
